4 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOUR ACID ALKALINE BALANCE

9/6/2024

By Dr. Heather Hutchinson, PhD, BCHHP

In a Nutshell
The measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a substance is its pH, potential or power of hydrogen. The pH scale runs from 0 (acid) to 14 (alkaline). The human body is approximately 7.4.

Our bodies are designed to continue working towards healing and optimal health, homeostasis. It is important to consider what we provide for our bodies to aid in balancing our pH for our bodies to function at their highest potential.

YOU SHOULD KNOW!
1. Cancer thrives in an acidic environment.
2. Your immune system suffers when in an acidic state.
3. Your body will feel fatigued in an acidic state.
4. Your hormones and menstrual or ovulation cycle suffers when presented with an acidic environment.

Things to Reduce & Eliminate
Excessive stress, high protein foods, dairy, eggs, alcohol, caffeine, processed foods, sugar, tobacco, and drugs contribute to an acidic internal environment.

Things to Increase & Implement

Do add a glass of lemon water each morning and right before bed to help balance your pH along with ripe fruits and green vegetables such as sprouts, leafy vegetables, and certain nuts.

Let's schedule a Mineral & Toxin Test and find out what is causing your acidic environment and keeping you from being your best. I offer 3 month or 6 month ESSENTIAL HOLISTIC REFINEMENT™ (EHR) Natural Health Programs to equip you to implement better habits towards better health.

-Opt for activities like walking, swimming, or cycling at a comfortable pace.

3.  STRENGTH TRAINING: 10-15 MINUTES

Stop! Are Your Symptoms Actually Healing Your Body?

8/2/2024

Let's talk about those pesky, disruptive symptoms you experience day in and day out! You know, the ones you complain about when you wake up in the morning, during the day, at the end of your workday, and even before bed.

I'm talking about the ones that caused nervous system fatigue due to the toxic environments within your body and that trigger and lead to unwanted sick-like symptoms, also known as natural corrective actions.

NATURAL CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
You're going to find that these natural corrective actions or these symptoms you experience are actually healing your body! I know what you're thinking! You've got to be kidding me? You mean these pesky aches and pains,  stress and anxiety, muscle tension and sleepless nights, coughs and cold, fevers, migraines, and vomiting are "healing my body "? The simple answer is, 100%! More on this in a moment.

You know that feeling when you're constantly stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed? How sometimes you just feel tired, sluggish, and maybe even a bit foggy headed? Well, it turns out that there's a reason for that. "Obviously", you say.

It's not just about the number of hours you slept or the amount of caffeine you consumed. It's actually because your nervous system is fatigued. Now, fatigue isn't just a result of overworking your brain. It's also caused by a toxic environment within your body. This toxic environment can lead to natural corrective actions, most commonly known as symptoms. Your body is constantly working and healing, to which it often communicates through "symptoms" that are often disruptive to our life and schedule.

COVER IT UP WITH DRUGS!
Often times, people quickly want to suppress these healing actions by covering them up with suppressants, stimulants, and other drugs that often cause a slowdown to the healing process, a disruption to healing, and even instigate additional reactive symptoms that are unnecessary. When your body is constantly exposed to external or even internal stress, it becomes a toxic environment within. When stress becomes chronic, your body cannot keep up with the constant release of hormones. This is where your nervous system becomes fatigued.  All sorts of "symptoms" begin to rear its ugly head. Your body is trying to cope with the toxic environment within and it's important to give it the support it needs. I offer several services to assess your nervous system, help, and solutions you need to refine what YOUR body requires (I called these YOUR essentials) and I provide ongoing wellness maintenance solutions specific to your wellness goals.

As I mentioned earlier, your body is constantly working to maintain a healthy balance. Let's not negate that everyone's body and essential needs are different. This is often frequently forgotten when making decisions to stop your unwelcomed symptom. Just because your friend has trouble, let's say, falling asleep at night and discovered a mineral imbalance was the cause, therefore, leading her to take a supplement to support her system, this does not mean that the same supplement she is using is what you need as well. Often, this is what happens when people "guess-dieting", "sample-supplementing", and "guess vitamin/supplement usage".
We often think, just because my friend, "Mercedes", (I love that name-LOL!) has similar symptoms or natural corrective actions that I am experiencing, then I should also do what she is doing to help correct OR take what she is taking to help correct for myself. This my friend, is wrong thinking!

YOU WILL NEVER FORGET TO SET THE ALARM!
Our body has a built-in alarm system that alerts us when something isn't quite right. You know all about this because your body is likely to remind you of the neglect you are providing, each and every day. Our nervous system prompts us to make changes to our lifestyle and habits. This is where I come in to help. I offer several services to assess your nervous system and help you find solutions to find what your body needs and requires like; Mineral & Toxin Test, Personal Wellness Profile, 1:1 Holistic Wellness/Lifestyle Coaching, & Detox Spa Care Services.

Let me share, I'm currently working on writing a book titled, Your Nervous System Has A Voice, and it goes deep into the topic of how our bodies were naturally created and the way that the Lord allows our body to heal itself if we create an environment for it to do so. It also talks about the importance of caring for our nervous system, how it works, energy enhancers and energy depletors, and also solutions for our nervous system and healing responses.

FOUNDATIONAL
Our nervous system is the foundation for our overall health. It is also responsible for detoxifying our bodies. When it's overworked, it cannot do its detoxifying work, effectively. A buildup of toxins in our system exacerbates our overall health and adds additional problems. Sound familiar right? Much like, YOU are unable to do your daily purpose effectively when you are overworked, whether it is worshiping the Lord, serving your family, serving your church, loving others well, and even finding joy.

I would love for you to schedule your Personal Wellness Profile and let's determine YOUR essentials so that you can function effectively and at your best!

Constantly working towards creating healing within.

Turning Inches Into Miles by Heather Hutchinson

9/7/2019

A veteran homeschool mother once shared some valuable wisdom. She said,
"Focus on going a mile deep in a few things, rather than an inch deep in many things."

As I contemplated that idea with my own educating style, that thought and piece of wisdom sounded easy andREFRESHING.

Why bombard my schedule with so many school/academic subjects?

Why fill up my calendar & spend hours upon hours lesson planning for SO MANY
                                                                                                             subjects, topics, and academic ideas?

This was exhausting and A LOT OF WORK!

This new idea of reducing the TO DO list for academics seemed like a great fit and so, I aligned our academic schedule with
 the "MILE GOALS" in mind.

This approach helped tremendously as my family walked through new chapters in life including mourning the loss of both of my parents within a 14 month time frame.

It was a new time of life for us.

    A new chapter.

Adjusting to the cycles of life.

Grieving, major career changes, financial setbacks, relocating, 2 preteens, and a kindergartener.

For those 2 years, "only going a mile deep in a few things", was superb advice and a necessary approach to allow our family to homeschool successfully during that time of major changes.

Now that we have faced, conquered, and overcame, stronger through those changes and adjustments, I begin to reevaluate our previous "miles" we have studied. We are ready for another season of change.

The thought occurred to me in our "FRESH START" season,

WHAT IF WE NEVER EXPLORE THOSE HIDDEN INCHES?

We could be missing some secret or hidden NEW hobby, passion, or craze of an exciting topic that may even send us down a
                                                                                                                                                                                                           NEW MILE.

Recently, we completed our 2nd section hike on The Appalachian Trail.
                                                                  12.4 miles one day.

Much deep thought provoking sessions occur to me while in my HIKE MODE.

                                                                                            LOADS of time to reflect.

As we progressed INCH BY INCH, on the trail, we conquered MILES.

Miles and inches we have NEVER TRAVELLED.

Reflecting on all that life hands us daily, I conclude:

If we never explore NEW INCHES,
than we will never conquer NEW MILES.

And so, for now, we are taking the time
to explore new inches in hopes of finding hidden miles.

"How much time do we really have to DO all of THIS...” by Heather Hutchinson, BS

Picture

I just don't have enough time."
~Insert sad/frustrated emoji face~

I hear time & time again.
People, including myself,
growing frustrated because of
ALL OF THEY HAVE TO DO,
which results in a lifestyle playing
"catch up" and never
actually catching up or having time to
live a meaningful life.

The rat race of time in life seems to be a common problem. Often times, the constant patterns we allow in our lives consists of jam packed meaningless houses and schedules. Filled with events and to do's that do not add value or joy in our lives, yet for some reason we keep adding it to our calendars and checking off the list.  Our homes have become just another place for clutter and stress to sit and soak. Yet, somehow we think another cup of coffee, cocktail, or shopping spree will give us what we are looking for and a boost in our cluttered minds & schedules of life.

Most of my life, I have searched and analyzed how my personal uniqueness would contribute to this world and how to have enough time to fulfill it.

After a radical dream many years ago, communicating I have a limited number of days to fulfill my tasks, along with scriptural teachings reminding me of the same,  I began praying more, asking more, and testing more than ever. I fell in love with the concept of minimalism about 7-8 years ago. I was exhausted from moving 10 times in my young adult life, at that point, and dragging truck load after load with us each time. Each time dumpster diving for more boxes and packing up EVERYTHING in multiple loads, aching, sweaty bodies just to have ALL OF OUR THINGS and yet we still felt our home unsettling, cluttered, and definitely not restful. Not to mention, I would purchase additional home decore items to fill the new spaces of the home.

In 2011, Our gracious church family helped us renovate a storage/closet unit, approximately 45 sq. ft. to use as a bedroom for our newborn child. The storage closet, which was attached to the front of the home with an exterior entrance off the front of the porch. The guys closed off the exterior entrance, added an indoor entrance off of the kitchen/dining combo, replaced the window, insulated & drywalled the interior.  They painted, added a beautiful and functional pocket door, new light fixture, new carpet, and a baseboard heater. The room was large enough for a crib, small yet tall dresser, and a rocking chair w/ ottoman.

That room was fresh, bright, white, and most importantly peaceful. I found rest in his bedroom. The rest of the house was cluttered, dark, dreary, and stressful for me. I would sit in there and watch the birds from the window. I would take a deep breath and feel refreshed! I was a safe haven. It was a mental escape. And as a young mother of three, I needed rest, peace, and to feel refreshed. As I know, most of you do as well.

For the last 7-8 years, I have been in a surging pursuit to find my families minimalist style. We have removed so many items &  tasks from our lives, often feeling refreshed, yet we still have a ways to go. Recently, I made a list of EVERYTHING that came to mind within about 10 minutes, of ALL THE HOBBIES, ALL THE PLAY MANIPULATIVES, ALL THE TO DO'S, ALL THE POSSESSIONS THAT REQUIRE TIME TO DO and the hope is to enjoy doing.

And of course time for personal hygiene, upkeep of our messes from daily living in our home or car, necessary time for gasoline in the car, & grocery trips.
This is exhausting!

AND - "This" is why, we are in a daily pursuit to rid ourselves from the weight of these things to do.

There is no way, we will ever have time to enjoy all of these things.

Several years ago, I made a list of the hours in my days and tried to fit all of my tasks into those hours.
Clearly not enough time- nor room for The Holy Spirit to work. I will share that list another time.

My hope is that our journey inspires you to make your own listand begin refining your lifestyle.

I would love to hear how you are improving your lifestyle through minimalism or decluttering.
